He assigned each of the four movements to a different multimedia artist, selecting the legendary avant-garde filmmaker Jonas Mekas specifically to visualize Movement IV. Most of the footage comes from Mekas's travels in Italy, also appearing in works such as The Song of Italy, The Song of Assisi, and the later compilation Travel Songs.
